Dry strength of clay sand
The dry strength is of practical significance for the dry type, surface
dry type and dry core in the transportation, closing and early pouring
stage. After drying, the free water and adsorbed water escape, the
particles are close to each other, the adhesion between particles
increases, and the wet strength of sand mold is significantly higher
than the dry strength. The size of sand has no significant effect on the
dry strength of molding sand. The influence of dry strength is mainly
clay and moisture.
Under the same amount of clay, the dry strength of general bentonite
sand is higher than that of general clay sand. However, in the actual
production, due to the low consumption and water content of bentonite,
and the concentrated dehydration of bentonite sand at 100-200 ℃, if the
strict drying system is not adopted, the sand mold and sand core will
crack, so the actual strength is lower than that of ordinary clay sand.
The dry strength of clay sand can be improved by increasing compactness.
